So if you bleed purple and gold, keep reading for the inside scoop on where to cheer on the Vikings each week during the NFL season!
1. The Sports Bar & Grill in Marylebone
As a Minnesota girl through and through, The Sports Bar & Grill in Marylebone feels like a little slice of home right here in London. The manager is from Wisconsin and is a huge football fan himself, so he’s always happy to open early and tune the many TVs to the Vikings game.
On one Sunday morning visit, I chatted with a couple from Minneapolis who were in London on vacation. We bonded right away over our shared hometown and love for the Vikings, making a breakfast of wings and Bloody Mary’s so much sweeter as we watched our team take down the Packers.
The Sports Bar & Grill has a great beer selection too, so you can wash down the spicy wings with a locally-brewed IPA while listening to classic rock in between plays. With the early hours, game audio, and multiple screens, it’s by far my favorite Vikings bar in London.
2. The Maple Leaf in Covent Garden
Since I arrived in London, The Maple Leaf has been my go-to for watching NFL games. This authentic Canadian bar in Covent Garden opens early every Sunday during football season and shows multiple games all day long across over 20 large TVs.
As a Vikings fan, I’ve never had any issues getting one of the screens switched over to my team. The staff is always accommodating and even the boisterous groups of Patriots, Cowboys and 49ers fans quiet down when I cheer after a Vikings touchdown!
Beyond American football, The Maple Leaf is a great place to watch other US sports too. I’ve caught many Twins and Wild games here over the years as part of their extensive MLB, NBA and NHL packages. And the food is stellar – be sure to try their famous Montreal smoked meat poutine!
3. Bar Kick in Shoreditch
Located right in the heart of Shoreditch, Bar Kick has earned a reputation as one of the best sports bars in London. They open early on NFL Sundays and subscribe to the NFL Game Pass, so you can always count on the Vikings game being shown.
I like arriving right when they open at 9am to grab a good seat. Bar Kick only has a few TVs, but they’re massive and one is usually dedicated to the early Minnesota game. The funky warehouse interior, ping pong tables and street art murals also give this place far more character than your average sports bar.
In addition to the great viewing setup, Bar Kick has incredible American-style brunch dishes like chicken and waffles, French toast sticks and huevos rancheros to fuel up on while watching. And they mix up tasty cocktails to match the action, like their purple Vikings-themed “Braveheart” with gin, blackberries, thyme and lemon. Skol!
4. Boom Battle Bar in Holborn
Tucked away in a basement in Holborn, Boom Battle Bar has long been the go-to for London’s NFL fanatics. They open at 9am on Sundays and show every single game across two projector screens and 18 other TVs dotted around the bar.
Despite the name, Boom Battle Bar has a friendly and welcoming vibe. I’ve chatted with the managers many times and they’re always willing to switch one of the projector screens over to the Vikings game for me.
The food and drinks here are great too. My favorite items to snack on are the hot wings and tater tots, which always remind me of home and go perfectly with a cold Grain Belt Nordeast beer. They also have a special cocktail menu on Sundays featuring fun, football-inspired drinks.
Boom Battle Bar does get quite crowded for the later games, so Vikings fans should arrive early to grab the best seats!
5. The Big Easy Bar & Grill in Chelsea
Right in the heart of Chelsea just off the King’s Road, you’ll find The Big Easy Bar & Grill. As the name suggests, this New Orleans-themed bar has incredible Cajun and Creole cuisine along with a top-notch beer selection.
Despite its Louisiana vibe, The Big Easy shows pretty much every NFL game across a number of large screens and projectors. I’ve watched many a Vikings game here over an order of gumbo or jambalaya.
The bar manager is from Minnesota and makes a point to tune one screen to the Vikings every week. He even puts out purple and gold balloons when our boys are playing! It always feels like a home away from home.
Conclusion
So there you have it – my picks for the top 5 Vikings bars in London! No matter where in the city you live or which game you’re hoping to catch, one of these spots should fit the bill. Just be sure to arrive early enough to grab a good seat with a nice sightline.
